Working at height

All activities involving work at height shall be carried out in strict compliance with safety regulations and approved procedures to prevent falls and related injuries. Work at height is defined as any activity conducted at a level where a person could be injured by falling, including work on ladders, scaffolding, rooftops, elevated platforms, or structures.

Prior to commencement, a risk assessment must be conducted to identify potential hazards such as unstable surfaces, weather conditions, and inadequate access equipment. Suitable control measures shall be implemented, including the use of certified scaffolding, secured ladders, guardrails, and fall arrest systems such as safety harnesses and lifelines.

Personnel involved must be properly trained and deemed competent for working at height. All equipment must be inspected before use to ensure it is in good condition and compliant with safety standards. Work areas shall be properly barricaded to prevent unauthorized access, and appropriate signage must be displayed.

Supervision is required throughout the activity to ensure adherence to safety procedures. In addition, a rescue plan must be in place prior to starting work, ensuring that any emergency situation can be handled promptly and effectively.
